2026 Shyanne-Lee Memorial Cup

The NTJFA was proud to host the 2026 Shyanne-Lee Memorial Cup on Sunday 26th July, bringing together the U14 Girls and U17 Girls teams from Prospect and East Launceston in a day dedicated to both football and youth safety awareness.

‍

Held in memory of Shyanne-Lee, whose life was tragically cut short in Launceston in 2023, the annual event serves as an important reminder of the role our sporting communities can play in supporting, protecting and educating young people.

Players wore black memorial armbands and teal ribbons, Shyanne-Lee's favourite colour, in recognition of the occasion and to honour her memory. Families, volunteers, coaches and supporters also came together to reflect on her legacy and reinforce the importance of creating safe and supportive environments for young people.

On the field, East Launceston recorded a strong victory in the U14 Girls match, while Prospect claimed honours in the U17 Girls fixture. With aggregate scores across both matches determining the overall winner, East Launceston secured the Shyanne-Lee Memorial Cup for 2026.

While Shyanne-Lee's family were unable to attend this year's event, her mother, Bobbi-Lee, prepared a heartfelt message that was shared during the trophy presentation. Representatives from both clubs read the message on behalf of the family, ensuring Shyanne-Lee's memory remained at the centre of the day.

The NTJFA extends its sincere thanks to Prospect Hawks Junior Football Club, East Launceston Junior Football Club, volunteers and everyone involved in making this year's Shyanne-Lee Memorial Cup another meaningful and successful occasion.

Together, we continue to honour Shyanne-Lee's memory while fostering safe, inclusive and supportive environments for all young people involved in our game.
