NTJFA v NWFL - 2026

The Northern Tasmanian Junior Football Association’s representative teams travelled to Latrobe Football Club on Wednesday 15th July for the 2026 NWFL v NTJFA Representative Series, proudly wearing the NTJFA jumper and representing the association with distinction.

Four NTJFA teams took the field against North West Football League opposition, providing our young footballers with the opportunity to experience the challenges of representative football and compete against strong regional talent. The series continues to play an important role in player development, allowing participants to test their skills in a high-quality environment while progressing along the Tasmanian football pathway.

U14 Girls

The U14 Girls produced a standout result for the NTJFA, claiming a strong 0.3 (3) to 13.11 (89) win over the NWFL, with all players showing fantastic effort, determination, and sportsmanship. Skylah Heihei of Longford Junior Football Club was awarded NTJFA Best on Ground, with Sian Beeton coaching the team and Ella Nast as Assistant Coach

U14 Boys

The U14 Boys took on a competitive NWFL side and delivered a spirited performance in NTJFA colours. While NWFL came away with a 3.5 (23) to 2.3 (15) win, the NTJFA players competed strongly and represented their region with great commitment and sportsmanship. Beau-Eli Gardiner of North Launceston Football Club was recognised as NTJFA Best on Ground. Drew Bardenhagen coached the team, assisted by Mathew O’Donoghue and Chris Cheek.

U17 Girls

The U17 Girls represented the NTJFA with pride, taking on a determined NWFL outfit claiming a 0.1 (1) to 5.5 (35) win over NWFL. The team displayed excellent determination, teamwork, and sportsmanship, with Keeley Trudgeon of George Town Junior Football Club recognised as NTJFA Best on Ground. The side was coached by Craig Fox, with Jaimee Todman serving as Assistant Coach.

U16 Boys

The U16 Boys put in a determined performance in their match, finishing ahead of the NWFL 5.5 (35) to 11.6 (72).A close game to start with, the NTJFA boys showed great commitment and continued to compete strongly throughout the game. Ben Hay of Launceston Football Club was named NTJFA Best on Ground, with Corey Bourke coaching the side alongside Assistant Coach Victor Marshall.

The NTJFA would like to extend its sincere thanks to the many people who made the representative program possible. To our volunteer coaches, team managers, trainers, selectors and support staff, thank you for the countless hours dedicated to preparing and supporting our players. We also acknowledge and thank the parents and families whose commitment, encouragement and support enables these opportunities for our young footballers. Your contribution plays a vital role in the success of representative football and the continued development of junior football across Northern Tasmania.
